Singing - the new people’s drug

Documentary film

Singing in a choir used to be regarded as uncool, embarrassing and eccentric. But that’s all completely changed now. In the NDR “45 Min” documentary we meet up with choirs who want to sing a little differently to classic school or church choirs.
Such as the Hansemädchen. Tina and Silke founded the women’s choir in 2017. Within a very short period of time, over 70 amateur singers came together - in fact they’re on a recruitment block right now. Everybody just wants one thing: To have fun singing.
We are looking for answers: Why are choirs suddenly in? Why all the hype? We do a scientific test with the senior citizens’ choir Heaven can wait. Does singing improve our brain performance? Does singing even make you happy?
